A musical duo named “The Fort Mill Roadrunners” has released a new song inspired by the town.
Josh Ramirez, a Fort Mill vocalist and drummer, and Dave Bachenheimer, a New York songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, released the song called “I’m Coming Home.” The song was recorded in Fort Mill in April.
“Much of I’m Coming Home, in particular the music, was inspired by the beauty and easy-going Southern ‘vibe’ of Fort Mill,” Bachenheimer said.
The musicians had played in a band together several years ago in Connecticut and New York. But when Ramirez moved to Fort Mill for work, they were only able to play music together twice. Then, Bachenheimer had an unexpected trip to Charlotte which brought the two together.
After catching up, discussing music, bands and life, the two decided they should write and record music. The pair exchanged musical ideas over text messages and emails and, once they settled on what they’d like to record, reconvened at a recording studio in Fort Mill and played and recorded music once again.
“The hope is to continue to write and record music,” Bachenheimer said, adding that he hopes to have the music played on the radio and possibly perform live in Fort Mill.
