In a recent school board meeting held on Tuesday, June 4, the Fort Mill School District announced the appointment of two new principals.
Ellen Borland has been named Principal of Pleasant Knoll Middle School, while Mabra Wayman will take on the role of Principal at Riverview Elementary School.
Ellen Borland will succeed Cori Hustedt, who is moving to the district office as the new Director of Student Services, according to a district press release.
Borland currently serves as Assistant Principal at Fort Mill High School and brings a robust educational background, including a Bachelor of Science in Math Education from the University of South Carolina Upstate, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Queens University, an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Winthrop University, and is pursuing a Doctorate of Education in Educational Systems Improvement Science from Clemson University. With 8 years of experience in education, Borland has worked as a coach, math teacher, and Assistant Principal.
Mabra Wayman will replace Darleen Romenick, who is also transitioning to the district office as the new Director of Talent Management.
Wayman, currently the Assistant Principal at River Trail Elementary School, holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Winthrop University, a Master of Education in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Education with a concentration in Mathematics from Winthrop University, and is completing a Doctorate of Education in Educational Practice and Innovation from the University of South Carolina. Wayman brings 15 years of experience as an educational consultant, math coach, teacher, and Assistant Principal.
Superintendent Dr. Chuck Epps expressed his enthusiasm for the new appointments, stating, “We are truly excited to have Mrs. Borland and Mrs. Wayman take on the roles of Principals at Pleasant Knoll Middle School and Riverview Elementary School, respectively. I am confident they will build on the excellent work of their predecessors and introduce new, innovative ideas to the schools. We are also delighted to welcome Mrs. Hustedt and Mrs. Romenick to our district office staff. Their expertise and experience as former principals will be invaluable in their new roles.”
The Fort Mill School District said in a press release that the district looks forward to the contributions of the new principals as they step into their roles and continue to foster a thriving educational environment.
