A local high school football star in Fort Mill has recently earned a highly prestigious honor.
Catawba Ridge High School quarterback Jadyn Davis was recently announced as the first invite to the 2024 All-American Bowl, a high school football all-star contest held yearly in San Antonio, Texas. Davis earned the invitation to the game following his participation in the FBU Freshman-All American Bowl down in Naples, Florida.
Originally sponsored by the United States Army, the game has produced many notable high school football stars who have gone on to produce great careers in college football and the National Football League. Some notable stars include current Clemson Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffery, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr, and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow. Davis is also the second high school football player from Fort Mill to be selected to the game after former Nation Ford punter Skyler Delong was selected in 2017.
Transferring in from Providence Day School in Charlotte, Davis started six games for the Copperheads varsity football team as a freshman and was a key figure in helping Catawba Ridge reach the Upper State Championship game, in which they fell to A.C. Flora 42-21 last November.
The freshman quarterback also has two major offers to his football resume as well.
According to the recruiting service website 247Sports, Davis has scholarships offers from major college football powerhouses Alabama and Georgia. Ohio State and North Carolina have also shown interest.
Even though Davis does not have a star rating at this time, he’s expected to be a highly rated recruit from the state of South Carolina for the class of 2024 and will be pursued by many college football programs across the country.
