All Fort Mill Schools will be closed until the end of the month, beginning Monday, March 16, the school district said Sunday.
S.C. Governor Henry McMaster has closed all schools in the state through the end of the month with the possibility of more cancellations as needed.
Fort Mill staff can report to work voluntarily to complete plans for e-Learning and Distance Learning as well as meal programs similar to summer meal programs.
The district’s official message:
“The district has been notified that Governor Henry McMaster will order the closing of all South Carolina schools beginning Monday, March 16 through the end of the month, with the possibility of extending the closure for a longer period. In accordance with this order the Fort Mill School District will be closed beginning Monday, March 16. This includes the cancellation of all afterschool activities and sports.
“The Governor’s order is allowing district staff to voluntarily report for work to complete plans for eLearning or distance learning, as well as meal programs similar to our summer meal programs. District staff will receive a separate email with this information.
“The district has planned for eLearning as part of the preparation for possible closures and we will be providing parents with more information on this program as soon as possible.
“This is a rapidly changing situation, so please check our website at www.fortmillschools.org for updates. We will continue communicate on our social media platforms and via email during the course of this closure.
“We thank you for your patience as we finalize the educational plans and navigate the uncertainty of this situation. We hope everyone will remain safe and healthy over the coming weeks. Any new information will be announced as soon as it is available.”
