A Fort Mill teenager died Saturday night after receiving serious injuries when he tried to cross Pleasant Road and was struck by a car, authorities said.
A GoFundMe page has identified the victim as Bryan Orkofsky, son of Dorota Orkofsky. The victim, a student at Fort Mill High School, was flown from the scene to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment, where he later died.
Fort Mill police have not announced any charges. A GoFundMe page set up for the family has already exceeded a $5,000 goal. On Sunday night, 176 donors had given $7,845.
GoFundMe Organizer Jeff Holloway said this about the fundraiser: “This page is for Dorota Orkofsky . Dorota’s son ( Bryan) was struck by a vehicle in Fort mill SC on Valentine’s Day . He was air lifted to the hospital and underwent multiple surgeries. After being in ICU with Dorota never leaving his side , Bryan passed at 5:25 on Saturday evening. Bryan was like his mother, friend to all , ready to help and always there for family and friends. I am asking that you consider donating for the family but if you are not able to then please say a prayer for them. Both will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.”
