More entries at this year’s Scarecrow Crawl are equaling more theft and vandalism.

The Fort Mill Police Department is reporting “an increase in theft and vandalism” at the town’s Scarecrow Crawl, which can be seen along Main Street in Millstone and Veterans Parks. A Facebook post is asking witnesses to report any suspicious activity to the police department (803-547-2022)

“That is out there for their enjoyment,” said FMPD Maj. Bryan Zachary. “But if they take something or vandalize anything, that could result in a criminal penalty.”

The Scarecrow Crawl began four years ago with only 10 scarecrows, increasing to this year’s record of 93 scarecrows that greet folks as they come into downtown Fort Mill.
