The Fort Mill High School marching band was named Grand Champion during an 18-band competition Saturday in Rock Hill.

   The band joined other schools from both Carolinas at Rock Hill’s District 3 Stadium for “BandBEAT,” where bands were divided into four classes based on band size.

   In Class 4A, Fort Mill won the awards for Best Music Performance and Best Overall Effect.  More importantly, Fort Mill placed first in Class 4A and was named Grand Champion, earning the highest score regardless of class. 

   This is Fort Mill’s 3rd consecutive year as BandBEAT Grand Champion!

   Here are the top 4 scores: Fort Mill, 83.80; Ardrey Kell, 82.35; Providence, 77.85, and Northwestern, 77.80.

   The Fort Mill band will travel next on Oct. 19 to Mooresville High School in North Carolina for the 38th Annual Blue Devil Band Classic.
