A Fort Mill father was charged Wednesday with leaving his four children at home alone at Forest Ridge Apartments, a press release says.
Lamont Robinson, 25, allegedly told a relative that he was leaving the apartment to pick up his wife from the hospital, leaving four children without supervision. The children are ages 5, 3, 2 and 1.
A great-grandmother of the children called Fort Mill police.
“When officers arrived, they discovered that the children were indeed alone in the residence, and subsequently observed approximately seven grams of marijuana, within plain view, in the kitchen area,” Maj. Bryan Zachary said in a press release.
Officers contacted the Department of Social Services, and while they were still there, Robinson returned to the residence and was arrested.
The children were turned over to their grandmother after DSS officials got involved. Robinson was charged with four counts of unlawful neglect of a child.
