A dozen marching bands from high schools across the region will gather in Fort Mill this weekend to present a vast array of musical talent.

Known as the Exhibition of Bands, the annual event will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at Nation Ford High School and continue past 6 p.m. until all the bands have performed. (See schedule below)

The public is invited and encouraged to attend. The cost is $10. Free admission is given to children under 5 as well as school district employees with ID.

Gates open at 1:30 p.m. at the school, located at 1400 A O Jones Blvd in Fort Mill. There will be a variety of concessions, including snow cones. Funds raised through the event go directly to support the Nation Ford band.

This will be the first and only time this season that all three bands from Fort Mill Schools will be performing on the same field. And organizers say it’s a unique opportunity because it’s not a competition, but rather an exhibition of what each band has learned, allowing them to get the jitters out and not worry about numbers. Bands do receive feedback, which helps them prepare for the season.
