York County authorities have released new details on the weekend domestic shooting incident in Fort Mill that left a man dead and woman with several gunshot wounds.

A sheriff’s report says that Jason Shafer was upset Saturday night when his girlfriend wanted to leave him. They were together outside the residence they shared at 1564 Pine Bluff Court.

He got upset, grabbed his pistol and shot her multiple times, the report says. Shafer, 37, then shot himself in the head.

A neighbor told authorities that he heard arguing and walked outside of his home. He then heard four gunshots. The neighbor then saw Shafer crawling on the ground over the female and yelling, “I’m sorry. I love you.” The next gunshot was reportedly the one fired by Shafer to kill himself.

The victim suffered gunshots to her abdomen and arm. At least one neighbor ran to her and applied pressure to the gunshot wound to her arm. The victim was taken to Piedmont Medial enter by ambulance and was expected to be OK, authorities said.

Meanwhile, a relative of Shafer’s has organized a GoFundMe page, seeking donations to cover cremation, a memorial service, and a plaque for Jason. By Tuesday, the page had raised $1,450 of a $2,000 goal.
