Fort Mill concludes the free Summer Concert series this Saturday, Aug. 3, with its inaugural hot pepper eating contest followed by a retro music experience from 80s cover band Cassette Rewind.

The fun begins at 6 p.m. when the venue opens for residents to purchase food from a variety of vendors. At 6:30 p.m., residents can gather around the stage on Main Street and watch as a group of competitive eaters attempt to consume a series of hot peppers, including the Carolina Reaper. The contest is sponsored and organized by PuckerButt Pepper Company.

Then, at 7:30 p.m., Cassette Rewind takes the stage to perform a variety of pop hits from the 1980s.

Please note that no pets, coolers or outside alcohol, food or drink are allowed at the events.

Upcoming Movies in the Park: Fort Mill’s “Movies in the Park” finishes the season with its rescheduled movie “Ice Age: Collision Course” on Friday, Aug. 9 in Veterans Park.

Featuring the voices of Ray Ramano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary and Queen Latifah, the movie follows Manny the mammoth and his friends as they search for ways to fend off a swarm of impending asteroids.

Residents can bring blankets and chairs to Veterans Park and enjoy the free movie with your family. The movie begins at dusk (around 8:30 p.m.) and concessions will be available for purchase at this event.
