The Fort Mill School District has selected a familiar face to serve as the new Banks Trail Middle School Principal.

Marc Pyrc currently serves as an assistant principal at Banks Trail Middle School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Master’s in Educational Leadership from Winthrop University. Pyrc has worked in education for the past 17 years, serving as a science and social studies teacher, athletic coach and assistant principal in the Clover and Fort Mill School Districts.

“We are very excited to announce Marc Pyrc as the new principal at Banks Trail,” said Superintendent Dr. Chuck Epps in a press release. ”Mr. Pyrc has served as assistant principal at Banks Trail for the past four years and is very familiar with the students, families and staff. His transition to principal will be seamless for the BTMS family and help to continue the outstanding work taking place there.”

Reaction is already pouring in from the Banks Trail community with dozens of parents congratulating Mr. Pyrc.

Parent JoAnna Pearson said this: “I wish I had videoed my BTMS 8th grader’s ‘happy dance’ when he saw this announcement!”

Parent Lori Vidonic said this: “Congratulations to Mr. Pyrc! I think he will do a fantastic job! However, as a BTMS parent I think the school district should have mentioned what happened to [Principal Michael] Pratt. I’ve heard through the grapevine he retired, but that should have been communicated in the new principal announcement.”

Another parent responded that the outgoing principal went to the Lancaster school district.

Tracey Miller was upset at the selection of a man. “Oh yay, another male Principal,” she said on the school district’s Facebok page. “I know of several highly qualified female candidates that were passed over once again. This school district is making me think they have a thing about women holding leadership roles.”

Erika Frye posted this reaction: “Love this guy!!”
