Hold your head up high, residents of Fort Mill. You live in one of the safest cities in the state of South Carolina, according to a new study.
While neighboring Tega Cay ranks second (just below top-ranked Mount Pleasant), the town of Fort Mill still makes the Safest list at No. 6.
The 2019 rankings were just released by HomeSnacks, a regional infotainment site that uses a computer program to scrape data and publish regional rankings on all sorts of categories. They took a look at the FBI crime data for 58 cities with population of over 5,000 to figure out which cities are the safest in South Carolina.
“We would be happy to hunker down in Fort Mill and you should be too as it ranks as one of the safest places to call home in the Palmetto State,” said Chris Kolmar of HomeSnacks.
According to the site, Fort Mill’s low statistics in both property crime rates and violent crime rates makes this city a great place to live. Kolmar also notes Fort Mill’s “rocking 40%+ increase in population the city has seen since the beginning of the decade.”
“In addition to being safe, Fort Mill is one of the richest cities in the state and the best to start a family. So get in before the prices get even higher if you can afford to,” the writer said.
Fort Mill improved three spots after ranking No. 9 last year.
The most dangerous city in the state? That designation goes to Hartsville. The remaining nine in that undesirable category are Dillon, Myrtle Beach, Greenwood, Camden, Darlington, Lake City, Cheraw, Florence and Walterboro.
